Especially for expats (and their partners)

iExpat specialises in international migration issues for highly qualified expats from within and outside the European Union (EU). iExpat helps employees and organisations to work together in the Netherlands in the best possible way: people with an international background and companies with an international character.

We provide a full range of services, from the application for a stay as a highly skilled migrant (legal support), to acting as an employer (employership), to welcoming at Schiphol (services). Does your organisation want to employ the employee itself, but still wishes to make use of our services? That is not a problem, as all of our services can also be used individually.

iExpat, Welcome to Holland

What we can do for you

iExpat provides a full range of HRM services aimed at bringing an expat and their family to the Netherlands as quickly as possible from within and outside the EU.

The objective is to make the expat feel at home as quickly as possible in their new working and living environment.

This makes the transition to the Netherlands as pleasant as possible, allowing the cooperation with the client to start smoothly.

  • Legal support Legal support

iExpat specialises in international migration issues for highly qualified expats from within and outside the EU. Which procedure and services best suit your situation? One option is the highly skilled migrant scheme, which makes it possible to bring international employees to the Netherlands from outside the EU. iExpat can take care of this application procedure and can act as employer if you are unable to employ the expat yourself. iExpat is NEN 4400-1 certified and IND recognised sponsor. If you would like to become a sponsor yourself, our partner Maes Staudt Advocaten can help you initiate this application procedure.

  • Employership Employership

Organisations are not always able to employ expats, particularly highly skilled migrants, themselves. We employ the expat on the basis of secondment or payrolling and second them to our client. We are a recognised sponsor, which means that we can also apply this form of service to highly skilled migrants. We are NEN 4400-1 certified and adhere to the ABU collective bargaining agreement.

  • Services Services

A lot of elements are involved when an employee comes to the Netherland from abroad. Our services go much further than the whole legal procedure. For example, we provide support in finding accommodation, taking out compulsory and voluntary insurance, registering with the municipality, collecting people from Schiphol and applying for the 30% facility. When a whole family moves to the Netherlands, we also help finding the right schools.

We know that the first three months of the stay in the Netherlands are the most exciting ones. We offer our 24/7 Helpdesk Expat Support especially for this period. This is the period in which you receive unexpected letters in Dutch from the government, for example. And what should you do when an accident happens during the weekend and you need to visit the out-of-hours GP service? Our Expat Support will help you with this. Maximum support for the best possible comfort.

Who we are

We are committed to providing excellent services. This means that we proactively help expats and clients find and create the best solution.

Since 2004, after his Personnel & Organisation studies, Wessel Koning has been active in employment services, at the Randstad organisation among other companies. Wessel has been active in the field of highly skilled migrants since 2011, first as a sales manager at a contract handler, and from late 2012 at a payroll specialist, where he set up the services for highly skilled migrants.

After five successful and informative years at this payroll organisation, he left the organisation in early 2017 to take a sabbatical. He became general manager at iExpat on 1 February 2018.

Wessel: “Making a difference is what gives me satisfaction. Making a difference by means of better services, more knowledge and more passion. To me, helping people and organisations beyond their expectations is the best there is.”

iExpat has entered into a strategic partnership with Maes Staudt Advocaten in Eindhoven. Maes Staudt Advocaten is a law firm specialising in national and international employment law, particularly international labour migration. The partnership with Maes Staudt Advocaten means that the legal “backbone” of iExpat is organised in the best possible way to work with international employees, such as highly skilled migrants and their family members. As a result, iExpat provides a full range of services for companies with an international orientation.

Bart Maes: “Employment law and terms of employment are everyday subjects and every company needs to deal with them, not just nationally but internationally as well. In view of the European and international market that we are active on, it is wise to look beyond Dutch nationality employees working on the basis of a ‘Dutch’ employment contract.”
